On Monday, PM Modi meets the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who is on a two-day visit to India. This visit is his first as Crown Prince and aims to enhance bilateral relations between India and the UAE.
Sheikh Khaled arrived in New Delhi on Sunday at PM Modi’s invitation and was received at Hyderabad House, where he and Modi discussed various matters. The External Affairs Ministry highlighted the close friendship between Modi and Sheikh Khaled through shared images of their meeting.
During his visit, Sheikh Khaled will also meet President Droupadi Murmu and visit Rajghat to honor Mahatma Gandhi. Following his Delhi meetings, he is set to travel to Mumbai to attend a business forum with leading business figures from both countries.
The visit comes as part of the ongoing strengthening of ties between India and the UAE, which were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to the UAE in August 2015. The partnership encompasses various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and technology. Notably, the two countries signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 and introduced a Local Currency Settlement (LCS) System in July 2023 to facilitate transactions in Indian Rupees and UAE Dirhams.
In 2022-23, bilateral trade between India and the UAE reached around USD 85 billion, and the UAE was one of India’s top foreign direct investors.
