Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reaffirming India’s dedication to an early resolution of the Ukraine conflict and the restoration of peace in the region. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN’s Summit of the Future in New York, during Modi’s three-day visit to the US.

This meeting marked the third encounter between the two leaders in approximately three months. Their last meeting was in Kyiv on August 23, during Modi’s visit to Ukraine, following a previous meeting in June on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy. In a post on X, Modi highlighted, “Met President @ZelenskyyUa in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for an early resolution of the conflict and the restoration of peace and stability.”

Modi stressed India’s consistent approach favoring a peaceful resolution through diplomacy and dialogue. He also expressed India’s willingness to offer “all support within its means to facilitate a lasting and peaceful resolution.”

President Zelenskyy shared on X, “We are actively strengthening our cooperation across various fields. Our conversation focused on enhancing our collaboration on international platforms, especially at the UN and G20, and preparing for the second Peace Summit.” He added his gratitude for India’s clear support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Zelenskyy thanked Modi for his focus on resolving the conflict, as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri noted in a briefing, confirming the meeting was initiated by Ukraine.

The leaders discussed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and agreed to stay in close contact. Modi’s visit to Ukraine last month was his first and the first-ever by an Indian prime minister since Ukraine gained independence.

Earlier, Modi addressed the UN’s Summit of the Future, held amid global conflicts, including the Israel-Hamas war and the Ukraine crisis.  READ MORE….
