NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with President Joe Biden on Monday, expressing his gratitude for the President’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between India and the United States.
During the call, Prime Minister Modi updated President Biden on his recent visit to Ukraine and reiterated India’s firm support for dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of an early return to peace and stability in the region.
The two leaders also voiced their concerns about the situation in Bangladesh, underscoring the need to restore law and order and to ensure the safety and security of minorities, particularly Hindus, in the country.
Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi posted: “Spoke to POTUS on the phone today. We had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India’s full support for an early return to peace and stability.”
He added, “We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need for a swift restoration of normalcy, and ensuring the safety and security of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.”
PM Modi expressed his appreciation for President Biden’s steadfast commitment to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, founded on shared values such as democracy, the rule of law, and strong people-to-people ties. Both leaders reviewed the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations and emphasized that the India-US partnership is intended to benefit not just the people of both nations, but the entire world.
Furthermore, PM Modi and President Biden reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums, including the Quad, and agreed to stay in close communication moving forward.
