Netflix has just announced that Squid Game season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024, with a final season following in 2025. The thriller-drama that became a worldwide sensation in 2020 is returning.
Fans around the globe were informed through a heartfelt letter from Hwang Dong-hyuk, the executive producer, writer, and director of the series. The announcement included a teaser featuring a track race where survival, not medals, is the prize. As bodies fall, the Frontman sets the stage for the real game to begin. Official Synopsis:
Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 is determined to uncover those behind the deadly competition and stop their cruel sport. Using his fortune to fund his quest, Gi-hun begins by searching for the mysterious man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. When his search finally leads to answers, dismantling the organization becomes more dangerous than he anticipated: to end the game, he must re-enter it.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history by becoming the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys, returns as director, writer, and producer. Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo reprise their roles from Season 1, alongside new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an, forming a vibrant ensemble for the new season.
