Bollywood has become the target of social media outrage right now. In a similar instance, Bollywood director, Anubhav Sinha known for films like Thappad, Mulk and Article 15 expressed his anger on his twitter account towards what the term ‘Bollywood’ has begun to mean and thus, declared his ‘resignation’ from ‘Bollywood’.
The director tweeted: “ENOUGH!!! I hereby resign from Bollywood. Whatever the f*** that means.”

Relating to Anubhav Sinha’s tweet Sudhir Mishra responded:

After these series of tweets from the directors were posted on social media, the conversation around what exactly Bollywood stands for, has been questioned. Both Anubhav Sinha and Sudhir Mishra are talking about focusing on working in the ‘Indian Cinema’ whose sanctity has a proven track record of fair opportunities and the production of cinema par excellence.
The Mulk director also changed his twitter name from to Anubhav Sinha (Not Bollywood)
The Omerta director, Hnsal Mehta replied to Sinha’s tweet and said: “Chodd diya…It never existed in the first place.”

The declaration made by Sinha had left his fans and admirers in wonderment and shock and they requested him to alter his decision and not stop making films. To which he clarified that he hasn’t left the film industry and will make more films but for Indian Cinema and not “Bollywood”. He stated: ” Bollywood was. Hindi films will.”
In a recent report, directors Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta and Sudhir Mishra will be collaborating for an anthology film based on the experiences of the common public during the coronavirus pandemic. This will be a film definitely to watch out for!
