The veteran Spanish, Rafael Nadal, is proving why he is the World #1 after each match. Despite losing the first set in the close contest, Rafael Nadal made a comeback in the following sets. Leonardo Mayer showed determination in the first set. However, Rafael Nadal overcame the setback and won the match. The scores of the match read 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 6-1 6-4.
Both of them gave the fans a thrilling contest which lasted over three hours. With the impressive victory, he reaches the round of 16. Rafael Nadal will now face Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov in the Fourth round.
After the match, Rafael Nadal said:
“All the matches have been very tight – I am very happy.”
“I don’t know how many break points I had before I got the first one. Mentally, I fought a lot until that moment, then I think I played better.”

The Spanish Veteran now has won all the three matches against Mayer. He fully dominated the game after losing the first set to the Argentine. Mayers showed resistance as well after he broke the serve to delay the inevitable. However, two sets later, The veteran grabbed the win.
He was also asked about his possible meeting with Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the US Open. To that, he said:
“It’s a long way away. All the matches have been very tough.
“The only thing I am looking for is the practice tomorrow to keep working hard and focus on the match against Dolgopolov.”
