Dilshan Munaweera looked to take the game away from Virat Kohli’s men. However, no other batsmen gave him the much-needed support. Indian wrist-spin duo controlled the run-flow and took wickets. Together, they both took five wickets in 8 overs giving 63 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was economical with 20 runs in his four-over quota. With this, India restricted Sri Lanka to a competitive total of 170.

In reply, India were relatively slow as they lost both their openers in the powerplay adding only 42 runs. However, Virat Kohli, the chase master was still there. He, along with Manish Pandey added 119 runs for the third wicket. It was an innings full of class, temperament, discipline. Also, He played no blind shots. He scored 84 runs off just 54 balls to ensure India’s win.
Furthermore, for this performance, he won the Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series award.
