Peter Handscomb will now replace the destructive opener, Aaron Finch in the 5-match ODI series against India. The series will start on September 17, Chennai.
Aaron Finch suffered a calf injury roughly six weeks ago while he was playing in England for Surrey. He had not fully recovered from the calf injury. Furthermore, during the team’s practice sessions, his injury exacerbated. As a result, he is going to rest for the first few matches of the series. However, he will remain as a part of the squad because he did not suffer any severe damages.
Therefore, Peter Handscomb will fly in to cover for the injured batsman. Peter Handscomb played a huge role in helping Australia win the second test match against Bangladesh. He flew back to Australia after the series concluded. Now, he will come to India for the ODI series and will be available to play the first ODI against India.

Team physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris said:
“Aaron re-aggravated his pre-existing calf injury during warm-up at training yesterday. He has had a scan in Chennai, and although we believe it is not a serious recurrence, he will not be available for the first few one-day matches here in India. He will remain with the squad whilst we assess the injury and establish his return to play timelines.”
Losing Aaron Finch is a big blow to Australia against India. The destructive batsman is the key to a fiery start for Australia, which is helpful in India.
