George Bailey will now captain the Hobart Hurricanes team in the seventh edition of the Big Bash League. Hobart hurricanes also re-signed the wicket-keeping batsman, Tim Paine ahead of the season.
Ahead of the fifth season, Tim Paine took the captaincy from George Bailey. Now, he will once again captain the side and Tim Paine will be the vice-captain. In light of this event, George Bailey expressed his excitement. He said:
“I’m really excited about this opportunity, it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had the captaincy. There’s been a few changes – new coach, new CEO, so there’ll be a different feel around the group. It’s the one tournament Tasmania hasn’t won yet so I’m looking forward to rectifying that.”

He scored 247 runs for the Hurricanes in the previous edition in just eight innings. He averaged 49.40 in the season. However, as a team, Hobart Hurricanes failed as they finished at #7. Tim Paine, too, performed well for the side as he amassed 227 runs for the team. Along with that, he recorded nine dismissals last season, making him the second best wicket-keeper of the season.
Hobart Hurricanes will play Melbourne Renegades in their opening match of the season on December 21.
