French Open Super Series- PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Prannoy reach semi-final

Paris is one of Sindhu’s favourite venues. She digs the crepes and loves the stores here. But after her maiden Korean crown this year, she is keen on scoring another in Europe. Sindhu’s not lost too many semifinals.

Former World No 1 failed to get across Japan’s World No 5 Akane Yamaguchi, losing 9-21 21-23 in a 39 -minute clash second round clash.

The star shuttler will now square off against either Sung Ju Hyun of South Korea or Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in her semis match here at the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium.

After losing the first set of the game to the Chinese player, Srikanth rebounded in the match to clinch it 8-21, 21-19, 21-9 and reserve his place in the semis.

Meanwhile, in another men’s singles match, HS Prannoy dismantled Jeon Hyeok-jin of South Korea 21-16, 21-16 in a straight set win.

It took fifth seed Yamaguchi only 37 minutes to blow away the Indian challenge in the last four clash.

The second game was a one-way traffic as Yamaguchi straightaway went 5-0 up and, at the mini-break, was leading 11-2.

The two young Indian stars will now take on each other in the semifinal round of the Super Series event on Saturday.

Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal has already crashed out of the tournament with a 21-9, 23-21 trounce to World No. 5, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the second round.
