External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expedited the issuance of passport to a junior woman boxer. Said now she “has to win” a medal and do India proud.
Jhalak Tomar recently won the bronze medal in the 54 kg weight category at the Junior Women’s National Boxing Championship. She is now all set to participate in an international boxing tournament called ‘Valeria Demyanova Memorial’ in Ukraine.
The external affairs minister has won several admirers for her use of social media in coming to the aid of citizens promptly. Her sense of humour has also been appreciated.
She directed the passport division of the External Affairs Ministry. To resolve difficulties faced by a person with disability. Her response came after one Luv Kher requested to renew a passport of his disabled son.

Last year in December, Foreign Affairs magazine named her one of 15 ‘Global Thinkers’ of the year “for fashioning a novel brand of Twitter diplomacy”.
