UFC:Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier trilogy fight confirmed!

The expected trilogy fight between the Notorious one Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier was officially set at UFC 264 in Las Vegas. Dana White, the UFC president said the fight is on cards for a very long time and it is targeted at UFC 264 at T-mobile Arena in Vegas.
This fight is usually one of the most highly anticipated one with the winner getting a shot at vacant Lightweight title. For Conor, the stakes are much higher as he recently lost to Poirier and Khabib in an epic clash. This will be a do or die match for Mcgregor and further loss could badly hurt his legacy. However he is more confident that he will be back to his winning ways against Dustin in upcoming fight.

However Conor was not the initial choice for Dustin to pick up a fight. He is rumoured to challange Michael Chandler for vacant Lightweight title. But Dustin reportedly decided to go against Conor in a trilogy fight.

Both Mcgregor and Dustin are levelled at 1-1 before going into this bout. Mcgregor was the one who picked up a first round KO win against Poirier at UFC 178 in 2014. However, Poirier took his revenge against his rival with a second round TKO in his rematch at UFC 257. In that matcyh, it was Poirier who came with a perfect game plan against Mcgregor to win the match. He delivered some vicious leg kicks to Mcgregor which slowed him in second round.

For his win against Conor, Poirier was offered a title shot for lightweight championship in upcoming bout in May 2021. However, Poirier refused thye offer and decide to go against Mcgregor in his trilogy fight.

Just hours after confirming the date of their trilogy fight, Mcgregor and dustin verbally engaged in war of words on twitter.
