Alli insisted that the middle finger gesture was for his friend, Kyle walker and not for the match referee. The incident took place during Englands 2-1 win over Slovakia.
Dele Alli could find himself in serious trouble as a breach of disciplinary action because it looked like the gesture was towards the match referee. England defeated Slovakia 2-1 in the World Cup Qualifying round.

In a conference, Gareth Southgate clarified that the indication was towards his former Tottenham team-mate, Kyle Walker. Alli took to Twitter to second Gareth Southgate’s statement. He tweeted the following:
“Just to clarify, the gesture tonight was a joke between me and my good friend Kyle Walker! Apologies for any offence caused! Great win 2nite.”
With that, it is clear that it was just a friendly joke between two people. England defeated Slovakia 2-1 with Eric Dier and Marcus Rashford’s goals. Now they have two games to go in their Group F matches.
