Australia Defeat Bangladesh To Level The 2-Match Test Series!

In the 2-match test series, Australia defeated Bangladesh in the second match to level the test tour. It was always going to be difficult for the Aussies, playing in the subcontinent. Also, losing the first test match had put them on the backfoot. However, The Aussies never give up, do they? In the second match, they bounced back to win the test and thus, levelled the series.

Nathan Lyon Took 13 Wickets In The Match!

Having lost the toss, Australia were bowling first and to make matters worse; they conceded 305 runs in the first innings. However, the ace spinner, Nathan Lyon, helped the team in the first innings after taking seven wickets.  It was not an easy surface to bat on. But Australian middle order had something else in mind. They lost Matt Renshaw in the second over after a brilliant catch from Mushfiqur Rahim. But then, the Australian middle order stepped up and helped the team reach 377 runs, taking a hefty lead.

David Warner’s century and half centuries from Peter Handscomb and Steve Smith helped Australia post 377 runs. 

With a 72-run lead, all The Aussies needed was quick wickets. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon provided exactly that. With their opening spell, they restricted Bangladesh to 43/5. Captain Mushfiqur held on to his wicket which was not enough. They could only manage 157 runs, thus giving a target of 86 runs. Bangladesh bowlers did take three wickets, but it was too little, too late.

Nathan Lyon bagged the Man of the Match award whereas David Warner won the Man of the Series award.
