Alastair Cook scored a double century against West Indies, in his first-ever Day-Night Test Match. Alastair Cook scored 243 runs in the first innings at Edgbaston. Also, he won the Man of the Match award for the same. However, this match-winning knock not only won him the MOTM award but also helped his rankings cause. With this knock, Alastair Cook is now the new number six test batsman in the ICC test rankings. He is also closing in on the gap between him and Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli is currently sitting at #5 position.
Alastair Cook’s double century against West Indies marked his fourth of the career, the joint second most for an English batsman.
With this knock, he jumped six places and is now the new #6 batsman. Alastair Cook shared a 248-run partnership with Joe Root for the third wicket after a top-order collapse. Joe Root scored his 13th test century, thus retaining his #2 spot in the ICC Test Rankings.
In the bowler’s list, there were no changes. However, with an impressive performance in the match, the ace pair Stuart Broad and James Anderson gained some ranking points as well. Stuart Broad closed in on the gap with the sixth-placed bowler, Kagiso Rabada. James Anderson, on the other hand, closed in on the #1 test bowler, Ravindra Jadeja.
