Cricket To Finally Return To Pakistan Confirms PCB Chairman!

The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Najam Sethi confirmed that cricket would return to Pakistan. Speculations were running around regarding World XI team visiting Pakistan. Najam Sethi, then, put them to rest by confirming the World XI touring in the country. However, a much better news for Pakistani fans is that West Indies will travel the country in late November as well. Both, West Indies and The World XI will play a 3-match T20 series. Najam Sethi, however, did not disclose the dates due to security reasons. According to his statement:

“CWI and PCB are advancing discussions that will see the West Indies play three T20I matches in Lahore in late November. In September, October and November, we’ll have the World XI, we’ll have Sri Lankan team and then the West Indies (come play in Pakistan).”

Furthermore, he added:

“We just hope that the security we’ve promised, we’ll keep it up. Sri Lanka have said they’ll come after the World XI, provided the security is fine. It will be fine, Punjab government has indicated that the preparations are in full swing. At the end of this month, ICC’s security team is also arriving. So far all signals are good.”

Ever since 2009 attack, Pakistan have not hosted any high-profile game in their backyard. However, only Afghanistan and Zimbabwe visited the nation. Along with that, the PSL 2017 finals, which was a huge success, was held in Lahore as well. The point of this was to bring back international in their country and play before their home fans.

Najam Sethi concluded:

“This is my objective. I had given myself a mission statement – to organise PSL, to bring it to Pakistan, to bring international cricket to Pakistan. Game development needs to be done. Fundraising needs to be done – and all that we’re going to do slowly. And I also want to try to professionalize PCB.”
