Kyle Edmund Retires Injured In His US Open Clash Against Shapovalov!

The British player, Kyle Edmund retired injured during his match against Denis Shapovalov. He was Britain’s last hope in the US Open. Now, even he made the exit to the tournament. He retired in the fourth set with scores reading 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, 0-1.

Despite winning his matches against Robin Haase and Steve Johnson, Edmund failed to advance to the next round because of retiring during the match due to a neck injury. He won the first set, however, he was still trailing in the match. The Canadian lost the first set, but he came through after a little setback.

Edmund was never in the game after the first set. He was completely in control of the game in the first set. In the latter sets, he did not show any signs of a fight. Thus, he was trailing 2-1 after the 3rd set was complete.

The 18-year old is impressing everyone with his game as he first defeated the world #8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach the third round. Furthermore, after losing to Edmund in the first set, he commanded himself in the second set. As a result of that, he won two straight sets before declared the winner because of Edmund’s neck injury. This is the first time Shapovalov reached the Round of 16 at the US Open. He now faces Pablo Carreno Busta in the Round of 16.
