The All India Football Association (AIFF) has announced the 21-member Indian squad for the upcoming FIFA 2017
Dheeraj Singh – India’s first-choice goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh on Tuesday expressed confidence.
“All my days of sacrifice and hard work will be rewarded and I am very much excited to be a part of the first Indian team to feature in a FIFA World Cup,” Dheeraj said three days before the start of the tournament.
Dheeraj is from Moirang in Bishnupur district, said he prefers to strike a balance between aggressive and composed goalkeeping.
Sunny Dhaliwal – Canadian goalkeeper Sunny Dhaliwal has been drafted into the Indian squad for the Fifa Under-17 World Cup after he managed to procure an Indian passport.
The goalkeeper is on the radar of several Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs after he recently trialled with DC United and Chicago Fire.
He was previously with the Toronto FC Academy. The imposing 6 feet 5 inch goalkeeper sunny, has played for youth teams of MLS side Toronto FC. Sunny scouted through the All India Football Federation’s innovative online portal.
Prabhsukhan Gill – Prabhsukhan tried as central defender and made it to the substitute’s bench for two international tournaments.
Gill is settled now, though, as goalkeeper and should be playing at least one of the three group matches.
A Punjabi boy, has took his lessons at the Chandigarh Football Academy. Gill has clawed the way back into the team after being relegated to the reserves.
