MS Dhoni’s batting abilities might have been diminishing in recent times. But there is no denying the fact the former India skipper’s stardom is still intact.
The most decorated skipper in the history of the Indian cricket, Dhoni is arguably the most followed cricketer in the country in the last one decade or so. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and others have managed to carve their own identity in the game, but when it comes to popularity, it seems Dhoni is still head and shoulders above them, and the incident which took place in the ongoing second One-Day International against Sri Lanka more or less proves that.

With a placard in his hand, the boy rushed straight towards Dhoni and couldn’t stop himself from touching the legendary Indian skipper’s feet before getting escorted out of the field of play.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time any fan has breached the security on a cricket ground to catch a glimpse of the wicketkeeper-batsman. Early this year in March, a fan had jumped over the wall from outside of the ground to take Dhoni’s autograph when Jharkhand was playing the Vijay Hazare trophy quarterfinal against Vidarbha in Palam.
Prior to that, another fan had entered the ground to touch Dhoni’s feet when he was leading India for the last time in a warm-up game against England in Mumbai.
