  1. A team gets 2 points if it wins a match
  2. A team gets no points  it loses a match
  3. A team gets 1 if a match ends abruptly

The Net Run Rate, however, is essential for a team as its IPL standings depend on it. The calculation of the Net Run Rate is based on how they perform in a match or throughout the tournament.
