KL Rahul scored his 10th Test fifty while Shikhar Dhawan reached his fourth Test half century as India started strong in their second innings against Sri Lanka in the first Test match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While Dhawan departed at a score of 94, Rahul remained unbeaten on 73 at the end of the day’s play, with India 171/1 at stumps on Day 4 and a lead of 49 runs. Earlier, Rangana Herath slammed a well-deserved half century while Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took four wickets each as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 294.

Shami was batting, Kohli became the center of attention on the sidelines, making animated reactions for every show the tail-ender played. In fact, Shami hit three fours, and it could have been four. But one of his shots failed to reach the rope. And it forced Kohli to say some words, murmur actually.

Like the last season, India seamers continue dominate whenever the team needed them. Apart from the early wickets, they have done well to wrap up the tail as well. At Eden Gardens and without the help of India’s two most successful bowlers in last two years, India managed to bouce back in the Test.
