The Indian badminton sensation, PV Sindhu, has entered the finals of Korea open. She will face the world champion, Nozomi Okuhara in the finals in Seoul. She will get a chance to avenge her loss at the World Badminton Championship, three weeks ago.
Both these athletes faced each other in the finals of World Badminton Championship where Okuhara defeated PV Sindhu in a thrilling contest. Also, that was the longest women’s singles match at World finals. And now, both these athletes face-off once again to give fans yet another thriller.
In the semifinals, the shuttlers had contrasting victories against their respective opponents. World #1 proved why she is the currently the best and a force to reckon with as she defeated her opponent easily. She defeated Akane Yamaguchi by 21-17, 21-18. On the other hand, PV Sindhu had to go through quite a competition against He Bingjiao. However, she defeated Bingjiao by 21-10, 17-21, 21-16 to proceed to the finals.
In an interview with Times of India, PV Sindhu said:
“It was a tough match today. Have to play a number of long rallies. I could have wrapped up in the second game itself, even though I was leading she came back and won the game. But in the third set, I did well from the start.”
PV Sindhu has already won two Super Series titles. She is now just one win away to win her third.
