On Tuesday (January 9), he smashed 150 in the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) BTR Cup Under-14 tournament (Group I, Division II).

The senior Dravid, who is currently in New Zealand as India Under-19 team’s coach at ICC World Cup, celebrates his 45th birthday in two days’ time – January 11. His son Samit has given a perfect gift to “The Wall”.

Thanks to the right-handed Samit’s big knock, his side – Mallya Aditi International School amassed 500/5 in 50 overs and won by 412 runs. In the run chase, the opposition – Vivekananda School were rolled over for a paltry 88 in 27.3 overs.
As the man of many matches turns a year older today, here are some interesting facts about him:

You may know him as ‘The Wall’ or ‘Mr. Dependable’, but the ace cricketer also goes by the nickname ‘Jammy’. Dravid’s father used to work at the Kissan factory, hence earning him the name. He also went to on star in an ad for Kissan.

Dravid is the only Indian to score centuries in four consecutive test match innings.
It isn’t for the first time that Samit has made headlines with his performance from the bat. Two years ago, he smashed 125 runs for Bangalore United Cricket Club (BUCC) against Frank Anthony Public School in the Tiger Cup cricket tournament.

Meanwhile, Dravid is currently in New Zealand, where Men in Blue are eyeing their fourth U-19 World Cup title. While the warm-up matches have begun from Monday, the main tournament will start on January 13, with matches spread across seven venues in the cities of Christchurch, Queenstown, Tauranga and Whangarei. India and Australia have won the title on three occasions While Pakistan lifted the most cherished title twice, South Africa, West Indies, and England have lifted the trophy once each.
