Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had backed India women’s team captain Mithali Raj to coach Indian men’s team in near future.
Mithali, who led India to a historic ICC World Cup final last year, appeared on “TED Talks India Nayi Soch” – a TV show hosted by the actor. During the interaction, Shah Rukh said, “I want to see you (Mithali Raj) as the coach of the men’s cricket team one day.” Raj responded with a smile and said, “I always want to give my best.”
SRK, who is an avid reader himself, also queried Raj about her books preferences.”I read books to get rid of pressure during a match. It does help me to keep calm and encourage a good performance,” she added.
TED is an internationally acclaimed TV show where a lot of Indian speakers have been present, but now the show is available in Hindi in India itself. In fact, as per BARC report, the first episode of had got a brilliant aggregate reach of 42.4 million.
Mithali during the ICC Women’s World Cup last year became the only batter to cross the 1,000-run mark in tournament’s history. She is also the first and only Indian captain (both men and women) to lead her side to two World Cup finals (2005 and 2017). She is also the highest ODI run-getter of all time in women’s cricket.
The women’s team captain also graced the cover of international style magazine Vogue last year, along with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Nita Ambani.
