Team India skipper has had tremendous 2017 season which saw him break records with ease. Kohli led his team to 1-0 victory in the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home recently.
The feat saw him winning nine consecutive series and also equalling Australian Ricky Ponting’s record of the most successive series win as captain. After scoring career-best 243 in the third Test against Sri Lanka. Kohli on Thursday jumped three places to grab the second position among batsmen in the ICC Test rankings.
Virat scored a tally of 2818 runs across all format. He is placed third on the list of most runs batsman in a calendar year across all formats.
Recently, when India beat Sri Lanka 1-0 in the three Test match series at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi. Yet another milestone unlocked for the Indian captain. The series win was a record equalling ninth for India which means Kohli, has now equalled former Australian captain Ricky Ponting’s record of the most successive series wins as captain.
The Ricky Ponting led Australia won nine series’ on the bounce from 2005 to 2008. Only once before has a similar feat been achieved, when England registered nine straight series triumphs between 1884 and 1892.
Kohli has currently taken a break from ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka citing personal reasons. Team India’s next assignment is away series against South Africa, where they will play 3 test, 6 ODIs and 3 T20, The first test will be commencing from January 5th at Newlands, Cape Town.
