Alcaraz said that with the win, he realized his dream of winning the Wimbledon title once again. The 21-year-old also spoke on the importance of winning the Wimbledon championships.

Carlos Alcaraz celebrated his victory in the Wimbledon 2024 final, fulfilling his dream of winning the prestigious title once again. The 21-year-old expressed his joy and the significance of the win, stating, “Honestly, it is a dream for me winning this trophy. I did an interview when I was 11 or 12 and I said my dream is to win Wimbledon,” during the trophy presentation ceremony.

Alcaraz, who successfully defended his 2023 Wimbledon title by defeating Novak Djokovic, triumphed with scores of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in a match lasting two hours and 27 minutes. This victory marked his fourth Grand Slam title, adding to his previous wins at the Australian Open (2022) and the French Open (2024).

Reflecting on the importance of Wimbledon, Alcaraz remarked, “For me, this is the most beautiful tournament, the most beautiful court, and the most beautiful trophy.”

In his speech, Alcaraz praised Djokovic as an “unbelievable fighter,” acknowledging the challenge of playing against him. “Djokovic is an unbelievable fighter, I knew he was going to have his chances. It was difficult but I tried to stay calm going into the tie-break and tried to play my best tennis. I was glad at the end I could find the solutions,” said the World No. 3.

Djokovic, who holds a record 24 Grand Slam titles, congratulated Alcaraz on his win. He admitted that his performance in the first couple of sets was not up to his usual standard. “It obviously was not the result I wanted but of course in the first couple of sets the level of tennis wasn’t up to par from my side. But credit to Carlos for playing elite tennis, especially from the back of the court, he had it all today. It wasn’t meant to be, I tried to extend the match, but he was an absolutely deserved winner today so congratulations to him,” said the 37-year-old.
