To set OpenDNS to follow the steps mentioned below. Set OpenDNS as preferred DNS server in your Windows Operating System. This makes much application to perform nslookup using OpenDNS rather than using ISP’s default DNS servers.
- Open Control Panel to change the settings on your Microsoft Windows.
- Now click on Network and Sharing Center.
- Then click on the name of the connection you preferred.
- As you click on it, a new window will be popped up and select properties.
- Now Search for Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ipv4) and click on properties.
- Now check the radio button with label ‘Use the following DNS server address’ and then enter the address given below.
Preferred DNS server – 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server – 208.67.220.220
You can also interchange this addresses and now click ok as it saves. Now your new DNS server has started on your Windows PC/Laptop. And as the usage of IPv6 has increased you can also configure iPv6 custom DNS servers as well.
