HMD Global launched the cheapest Nokia-branded phone, the Nokia 2, in India on Thursday at a price of Rs 6,999. The Nokia 2, much like the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5, will also be available for buying via offline stores across the country. In India, the Nokia 2 will start selling from November 24.

The Nokia 2 comes with a 5-inch 720p display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against nicks and scratches. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and a mammoth 4,100mAh battery which Nokia claims is good for two days of use on a single charge. There is 8GB of internal storage on board which can be expanded via a microSD card.
Nokia claims that the two-day battery life is achieved through a combination of factors – the massive battery being just one of them. The phone uses a high contrast LTPS display which HMD claims use less power. Additionally, the efficient Snapdragon 212 processor is said to deliver great battery life.As like of Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6and Nokia 8, the Nokia 2 runs on a pure and untouched build of Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Nokia has confirmed that the smartphone will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo very soon.
On the imaging front, the Nokia 2 comes with an 8MP camera at the rear paired with a 5MP camera up front for selfies. Design-wise, the Nokia 2 comes with a polycarbonate back which is mated to a frame made out of series 6000 aluminum. Nokia 2 will available in three colors: Pewter/Black, Pewter/White, and Copper/Black. Jio customers can avail additional 45GB 4G data on purchase of the Nokia 2 – 5GB data on every recharge of Rs 309 and above for 9 recharges until August 31, 2018, HMD has announced.
