Soft Reset (Restart)
A soft reset is a basic restart that refreshes your device. It can help resolve minor issues without affecting your data.
- Press and Hold Buttons:
- Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and either the Volume Up or Volume Down button.
- Slide to Power Off:
- When the power-off slider appears, swipe it to the right to turn off your iPhone.
- Wait and Turn On:
- Wait about 30 seconds for the device to power off. Press and hold the Side button to turn it back on until you see the Apple logo.
Note: A soft reset does not delete any data; it only restarts the device.
Factory Reset
A factory reset erases all data on your iPhone and returns it to its original settings. This is useful for troubleshooting persistent problems or preparing the device for sale.
- Backup Your Data:
- Before performing a factory reset, back up your data to iCloud or your computer. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and tap Back Up Now.
- Open Settings:

- Tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone:

- Erase All Content and Settings:

- Confirm Erase:
- Confirm that you want to erase your iPhone. The device will begin the reset process, which can take several minutes.
Note: After the reset, your iPhone will be like new, and all personal data, apps, and settings will be removed.
Reset All Settings
Resetting all settings returns your device’s settings to their defaults without deleting your data. This can help fix issues related to system settings or configurations.
- Open Settings:
- Go to Settings.
- Navigate to General:
- Tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone:
- Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset:
- Tap Reset.
- Select Reset All Settings:
- Choose Reset All Settings. You may need to enter your passcode.
- Confirm Reset:
- Confirm that you want to reset all settings. The iPhone will restart, and all settings will be reverted to their defaults.
Note: This option will not delete your data or apps, only system settings such as Wi-Fi passwords and wallpaper.
