The feature will be rolled out to all compatible OS. Reportedly, this inbuilt ad blocker feature can be switched on by default within Chrome. Google in June this year announced its partnership with Coalition for Better Ads, an industry group dedicated to improving online ads. It also rolled out several tools for publishers like a feature called Ad Experience Report- a tool used for taking screenshots and videos of the annoying ads on the web to get it fixed.

Funding choices is another feature for publishers to help improve the ad experience. This is how Google explains the feature-  ” With Funding Choices, now in beta, publishers can show a customized message to visitors using an ad blocker, inviting them to either enable ads on their site or pay for a pass that removes all ads on that site through the new Google Contributor.”

Google’s inbuilt ad blocker will filter out ads, but only those that don’t comply with standards set by the Coalition for Better Ads. Pop-up ads, auto-play video ads with sound, prestitial ads with the countdown and large sticky ads are some of the annoying ads identified by the Coalition for the desktop format. For the mobile platform, ads with more than 30 percent flash animation, full-screen scroll over ads, large sticky ads and auto-play ads are some of the ads identified as the bad experiences on the web.
