The offer went live on December 23, 2017, and will be all across the country. Buyers who purchase the Detel D1 will get a BSNL SIM card along with the phone. The phone along with SIM will cost Rs 499.The Detel D1 comes bundled with Rs 153 plan. So, the phone in real costs only Rs 349 and the rest amount is basically the charge of the plan. The Rs 499 includes Rs 153 plan.
Buyers purchasing the Detel D1 would get a talk time of Rs 103. They will be charged 15paise per minute for calling on any BSNL number and 40 paise per minute for calls to other networks. The validity of the first recharge will be 365 days. The user also gets access to personalized ringtone for 28 days under the plan.
The BSNL Detel D1 is a very basic phone and comes only with calling benefits, unlike JioPhone which offers data benefits as well. What BSNL offers is a simple phone which can be used for calling and sending SMSes purpose only.Commenting on the partnership, a BSNL Spokesperson said, “We are committed to providing affordable and efficient services to our customers. We aim to strengthen our reach in all the nooks and corners of the country. With this partnership, we aim to tap the untapped section who still feels that owning a phone is a luxury”
